This reminder to all residents of Blair Township:

Building Permits are required for all new houses, additions to exterior alterations of existing houses, swimming pools (in ground and above ground), garages, or any out dwellings (including sheds and utility buildings), fences over 6' and walls over 4'. Applications for permits are available at the Blair Township Municipal Building, 375 Cedarcrest Drive, Duncansville, from 8:00 AM till 3:30 PM Monday through Fridays.

If you are in doubt about needing a permit please call Tom O'Leary at the Township Office at (814) 696-4363 Ext 103, or on his cell phone (814) 207-1291. See if you need a permit or not. This will save you trouble in the end.
"When in doubt -- Check it out."

Blair Township, like all Pennsylvania Municipalities, is under The Uniform Construction Code This requires State Mandated Forms and Inspections. Rich Webb and Brian Rearick are our UCC Inspector. Call the township office if you need this explained.

The building permit officer, Tom O'Leary will contact you after you have applied for the permit that does not need UCC inspections. He will approve or disapprove the construction. This takes ten working days from the date the application is made.

Residents of the FLOOD PLAIN areas need to be especially careful to get approval before planning any construction or improvements.

If you have any questions in regard to these items, please call Tom O'Leary at the Township Office at (814) 696-4363 Ext 103, or on his cell phone (814) 207-1291.

Applications for permits should be made at least ten working days prior to the beginning of ANY construction.

Blair Township's current set-backs are as follows for residential construction: 35 feet from the front, 25 feet from the rear, and 15 feet from the side property lines. If your proposed construction does not fall within these property guidelines, a variance will need to be applied for, and approved by the Board of Supervisors prior to any building permits being granted.
